Root Canal Treatment | Mobile AL
What is a root canal?
A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures performed, well over 14 million are performed every year. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need for dental implants or bridges.
At the center of your tooth is pulp. The dental pulp is a collection of blood vessels and nerve tissue that helps to build the surrounding tooth. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures. Symptoms of the infection can be identified as visible injury or swelling, sensitivity to temperature, or pain in the tooth and/or gums.
If you experience any of these symptoms, your dentist will most likely recommend root canal treatment to eliminate the diseased pulp. Root canal treatment removes this injured pulp, and the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned and sealed. This therapy usually involves local anesthesia and may be completed in one or more visits depending on the treatment required. Root canal treatment has an excellent success rate!
We make every effort to insure your comfort during treatment. We use local anesthesia for all our patients. In addition, if you desire, we will provide nitrous oxide analgesia (“laughing gas”). You will be able to drive home after your treatment, and you can return to your normal routine very soon thereafter.
To provide you with a better understanding of endodontic therapy, we have provided the following multimedia presentation. Many common questions pertaining to root canals are discussed.
What happens after treatment?
When your root canal therapy has been completed, a record of your treatment will be sent to your general dentist. You should contact their office shortly after we complete our treatment. They will schedule for a follow-up restoration within a few weeks. Your general dentist will decide on what type of restoration is necessary to protect your tooth. It is rare for our patients to experience complications after routine endodontic treatment. If a problem does occur, however, we are available at all times to respond.
How much will it cost?
The cost associated with this procedure can vary depending on factors such as the severity of damage to the affected tooth and which tooth is affected. In general, endodontic treatment is much less expensive than tooth removal and replacement with an artificial tooth.

Loved talking ballet about our girls. Equipment is perfect and they followed up with me, as to how I was doing. Said to call if I was having any trouble.

I have had several root canals before from others. This was THE most comfortable I have ever been having that procedure. The gentle pats on my shoulder as the numbing injections were given were most appreciated. Dr. Morgan was extremely gentle performing the procedure. If I ever need another root canal, I will surely make my appointment with Dr. Rick Morgan.

They saw me for a root canal immediately (same day I called) and, in spite of being really nervous, the entire procedure was quicker than I expected, easy, and painless. I will be singing their praises and recommending them to family and friends.

I had a temporary crown placed a week ago and knew that there was a high probability that I would need a root canal. I looked online and saw the 5-star rating from previous patients and read the reviews from their encounters. The things they said are absolutely true. From the first phone call I made to schedule an appointment to me leaving the office the SAME DAY after my root canal, I had the absolute best experience I could ever hope for. Nobody wants a root canal, but if you have to have one, this is the place to go! Mrs. Donna, who assisted Dr. Manolakis was amazing. She made me feel comfortable from the beginning. Then, I got to meet Dr. Manolakis.. She is absolutely precious, and has a genuine heart of compassion and servitude. She sang the entire time she fixed my tooth, and completely calmed every fear I had. She and her staff are incredible! I didn't experience any pain during the procedure and it's almost 4 hours after, and I'm still pain free. Thankful I went to her!

I have become very well acquainted many dentists over the years and have had tremendous amounts of work done, fillings, crowns, bleaching, lingual braces for TMJ, one root canal, to name a few. I am a coward, have a bad gag reflex and my bottom lip and tongue have minds of themselves. The word relax is not in my vocabulary. During the root canal that Dr. Morgan (who just happens to be my cousin) performed, I almost went to sleep. I had no discomfort during or after the procedure. Thank you and your staff.

I had been in pain for three weeks hoping and praying that this office could help me. It wasn't an easy fix since my nerve would never deaden. Dr. Manolakis was great and talked me through the whole thing. Her assistant and herself were very professional, very knowledgeable and excited about their work. The front desk employees to the dr. were very caring and really seemed to care about my well being. Thanks to all who made my visit as pleasant as could be with a tooth ache.

I had a molar that was bothering me before Memorial Day. I was referred to Dr. Jean-Marie Manolakis, She is new to Dr. Morgan's office. She was so kind and helpful. She planned the root canal very quickly and it was a success! This was my first root canal so I was very nervous... She walked me through the process as she was doing the procedure and reassured me every step of the way. There was no pain! She was genuinely concerned about how the tooth was affecting me. I couldn't have asked for a better endodontist to work on my tooth. The dental hygienist and office staff were so kind and reassuring. I highly recommend Dr. Manolakis and her staff!!!

Patient Review by Stevan B
The Endodontist who performed my root canal was Dr. Joan Marie Manolakis. I found Dr. Manolakis to be exceptionally knowledgeable of her practice and precise in her execution of the procedure; but above all, I found Dr. Manolakis to be very pleasant and comforting throughout the entire procedure. Her stating "let's rock and roll" to begin work instilled in me an assurance of her confidence and expertise. Additionally, I greatly appreciated her brief followup phone call to ensure that I was doing well. I have previously seen Dr. Rick Morgan for similar consultations and, in each case, have come away being impressed with his candor and no-nonsense discussion and recommendations. As well, his office and staff personnel offer a homey environment in which their patients may relax and feel welcome. A great place to come - should necessity drive you there.
